5. Layer-3 - Yellow Cross

 

Let's solve the Yellow Cross of Layer-3

1. The first step in solving the Last Layer i.e. the Yellow face is to solve the Yellow Cross first. Please note that the colors of the sides may not be right place. Don't worry. We need to concentrate on solving the Yellow Cross in this stage. 

2. We can get three possible patterns on the top. Use this algorithm to go from one state to the other:

F R U R' U' F'           

(i) When you see a dot you have to apply the algorithm three times.

(ii) If you have a yellow "L" shape then only twice, holding the cube with the Yellow Reverse "L" shape on the upper left corner of the cube.

(iii) In case of a horizontal line you just have to execute the permutation once.
